The European collaboration to produce ethanol from biomass focusses on the development of enzymes.

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland is spearheading an €8.2 million ($12 million), four-year project to develop enzymes that can be used to cut lignocelluloses from agricultural and forestry waste feedstocks into sugar compounds suitable for ethanol production.

BioMcn is the Dutch based biomethanol producer in The Netherlands.

Methanol makes up a roughly 10 percent of the biodiesel process, yet discussions about biodiesel technology are primarily about feed-stocks and production processes. Methanol has been ignored. This may change with biomethanol.
