E.ON and Neste Oil proudly announced that they were included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

Neste Oil has been accepted again, for the third year in a row, into the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, which features 317 companies from 27 countries that excel in their commitment to a more sustainable future. This year, Neste Oil was also included in the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index. The DJSI World listing was published today by Dow Jones Indexes, STOXX Limited, and the SAM Group."We are very pleased to receive again this type of international recognition. Neste Oil has been committed to the sustainability for decades and our products have regularly been at the front of the field in terms of their environmental performance. The most recent example of this is our NExBTL Renewable Diesel, which is world's cleanest diesel fuel", says Mr Matti Lievonen, President and CEO. Neste Oil has been awarded 'Best in Class' recognition for its social accountability by the Norwegian banking group, Storebrand, featured in the Ethibel Pioneer Investment Register, and included three times in Innovest's Global 100 list of the world's most sustainable corporations.            E.ON has once again qualified for the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), the leading global index of sustainable companies. The listing recognises E.ON’s corporate policy, which is aimed at sustainable growth and value creation. The index is an increasingly important guide to investors incorporating social and environmental aspects into their investment decisions.E.ON CEO Wulf H. Bernotat: "This result acknowledges E.ON’s transparent and socially responsible corporate policy, which aside from creating value for investors is also always aimed at delivering benefits for society and the environment. We see this distinction as an important signal underlining that we are on the right track with our strategy of sustainable value creation, especially against the background of the current global economic and financial crisis."Only the top 10 per cent of the world’s largest companies make it into the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, while the best companies in Europe qualify for the European Index DJSI STOXX. Criteria include high ratings in terms of economic, ecological and social performance, the focus being on aspects such as risk management, climate protection policy, supply chain standards and working conditions. In both indices, E.ON continues as one of only two German companies in the Utilities category. Companies have to earn admission to this index every year as poor ratings can lead to their expulsion. Corporate responsibility is an integral part of E.ON’s corporate values and strategy. E.ON aims to occupy a leading position within the industry, especially in the field of climate protection. As part of this goal, E.ON intends to at least halve its specific carbon emissions by 2030 compared with 1990 levels. To this end, E.ON will invest EUR 8 billion in renewable energies by 2011, looking to produce 35 per cent of its power from renewables by 2030.
