Ireland sets out plans to meet binding 16%

31-07-10

EU renewables target he Republic of Ireland has set out plans to meet its binding EU target to get 16% of all energy from renewable sources by 2020 in a National Renewable Energy Action plan, which was published Tuesday by the European Commission.

"The government's ambitions for renewable energy and the related national
targets are fully commensurate with the European Union's energy policy
objectives and the targets addressed to Ireland under the Renewable Energy
Directive. Ireland's energy efficiency ambitions (20% by 2020) as set out in
the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan are duly reflected in the NREAP,"
the plan states.
